HONG KONG MOU?

Since I was really young and have started to watch TVB dramas, I have been wanting to visit to Hong Kong so much but unfortunately I didn't have the chance to do so all these while. I have been to several main Asia countries such as Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, China and Singapore but my favourite of all have always been Hong Kong. Not knowing how to describe why do I like this country so much, maybe it's the culture, the food, or the feeling it gave me.

I have expected and imagined so much about this country before visiting it, and my first ever visit to Hong Kong was totally amazing and has definitely lived beyond my expectations in everything wise! What made this visit more exciting was that I was going with my two best friends Sofea and Jeanne. Since we have our own Hong Kong friends who brought us around, we've got to experience a lot of things not only tourists do, but the locals as well!

So here's my list of the must-do things in Hong Kong:

1. Go for their Hong Kong style tea restaurants

The one I went for breakfast was Australia Diary Company (澳洲牛奶公司) and I have tried out their traditional spaghetti in soup (汤意粉), toast with scrambled eggs (炒蛋多士) and their steamed egg (炖奶) is a MUST MUST MUST TRY! My personal favoruite has got to be their iced milk tea (冻奶茶) and anyway everything there is really really delicious so do not hesitate to try them out!

The another tea restaurant that we went for tea time was Capital Cafe (华星冰室), and I really loved their pork bun (猪扒包)!

2. Take a walk at Mong Kok (旺角)

This place is full of Hong Kong's famous street food such as the egg waffle (鸡蛋仔), curry fish balls, fried intestines, fried stinky tofu and so on. It's my first time having egg waffle in my life and it's crispy from the outside but fluffy inside. SO YUMMY! I loved their curry fish balls too but it's much spicier than what we usually have back in Malaysia. Basically this is a place more for eating, so keep your tummies empty before visiting and you will never get disappointed with any of the stalls here!

3. Go on a boat trip at Sai Kung during the Summer!

The main reason why we were up for this Hong Kong trip was because of this BOAT TRIP! I have always wanted to go for one after constantly seeing Hong Kong Instagrammers posting pictures of them going on a boat trip during their summer holidays, getting some tan, taking some sexy bikini pictures, playing banana boat and so on..... And I have finally gotten the chance to experience it! My Hong Kong friends have booked for it a month earlier, so try to make an appointment with the boat companies earlier to avoid disappointment as it gets really busy during the season. It's totally how a perfect summer holiday should be like!

After returning from the boat trip, there's a whole range of seafood restaurants by the harbour for you to dine in. It tasted so amazing as it's all fresh off the sea!

4. DIM SUM!

What? Visiting HK without trying out their dimsum?? You don't know what you're missing out man. Their dim sum is the bomb! Although we have so many kind of Hong Kong dimsum everywhere, but the authentic ones in HK is really different and unbeatable! We went for this small dimsum shop called Dim Dim Sum (点点心) which is near Causeway Bay and it's pretty good. Another restaurant which we went for dimsum was called The Dining Room (南小馆) which is inside a mall called Hysan Place near to Times Square.

5. Enjoy the entire night view at Victoria Peak

Hong Kong is widely known for its hustle bustle city life and the night view from Victoria Peak is totally fascinating and you should never miss out! This is the place where Running Man's Hong Kong special episode was shoot! You can either take a bus or a cable car up to the peak and it's often crowded with tourists.

6. Experience LAN KWAI FONG

*SMIRKSSSSSS* Erhem. Okay, I guess a lot of people have watched the movie Lan Kwai Fong (喜爱夜蒲) right? It's actually very similar to how it's like in reality, just that the movie was slightly exaggerated. On weekdays, this place is more like a chilling bar drinking place full with foreigners; whereas on weekends it's like a legit hardcore party place where you will not regret experiencing!
On a side note, girls should be very careful and do not take any drinks from any strangers and I really mean it! Do not be like: oh okay that only happens in dramas and not in real life so I can don't give a shit about it, trust me, do not take any drinks from random strangers unless it's from the bouncer or fresh from the bar-tender itself.

7. Visit fancy cafes

This idea is pretty mainstream but I guess it's one of the must-do-thing for most of the girls! What's better than having a good tea time at a pretty cafe after a whole tiring day walking around? There are so many special cafes around HK and we went for this cafe operated by my goddess Angelababy! The food was mediocre but the mango toast was really yummyyyyy. Places like Dazzling Cafe and the Hello Kitty cafe were quite attractive too but I didn't get to go so maybe next time!

8. Visit Macau

Why not visit to Macau when you're already in HK? It only takes an hour by ferry from HK's terminal to this city which has the name of "Asia's Las Vegas". The main attractions here are the casinos, and the colourful night view which really resembles Las Vegas, also not forgetting their famous Portugese tart, pork bun and the Ruins of St. Pauls (大三巴)! The Venetian Casino is so pretty and I was in love with this place ever since I've watched the Korean drama Boys Over Flowers. Finally gotten the chance to visit this place and hence one of my must-go-places was checked.

There's actually still a lot more must-do-things in HK that I didn't get to do such as going to the Ocean Park, trying out more delicious food and cafes and so on, so I have tones of reasons to come back again in the future! Anyhow, I will definitely come back to this place again as it's now like my number one favourite country! Missing HK so much now it hurts. :(

Studying Law in the UK?

It took me more than a year to revive my blog! I thought I would be blogging a lot when I was in the UK for the whole of last year, but too bad, the constant cold weather here made me even more lazier than usual, not an excuse at all I know :p

When I first came to the UK, I actually wanted to share so much about my life here and so I thought, yay I can actually have so many things to blog about! But still, I blame the weather for not being able to do so. :p Anyway, here I am for another year living in the UK! It is really unexpected, as I initially planned to only study a year here for my final year of law degree and then that's it, goodbye UK. But fortunately enough, I get to study here for another year of Masters in Law, so I thought I really really need to start blogging about it!

Okay. Here's why I wanted to write this topic. It was after me posting my convocation pictures on social medias that I've since been receiving emails and private messages from people asking me questions regarding my law degree. Seems like there are so many people interested in studying law out there like wowwwww.

(so flattered that you guys decided to ask ME ;) )

So, here are some of the commonly asked question. Hope this helps!

Q: What's your pathway for studying Law?

Oh well, after my SPM, I went to TARC for A level. At the time, I really had no idea what to study yet. Also, A levels is like the safest choice ever as most of the degree courses accept it as an entry requirement (also depending on your result of course). After A levels, I went for HELP's UK Degree Transfer Programme and that's what got me to the UK! You can opt for 1+2 or 2+1, which means transferring to UK during your second year or your final year. For me, I chose to come to here during my final year haha as I'm not rich enough to study in the UK for so many years.

Q: What kind of results do I need to get to study law?

Okay just sharing a bit of my personal story here, I used to be a bright student baaaaaaaack in primary and secondary school as I had gotten straight A's for both UPSR and PMR exam. But my results deteriorated during my SPM and I didn't manage to score straight A's for it. My ambition since young was to become a lawyer and I guess I have really come a long way to this, and fret not, all these results mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING as long as you are able to get into your pre-university course such as STPM, A-level or any foundation which is eligible for entering into a law degree programme.

Q: Do I need to score well for any particular subjects in order to study Law?

The answer is NO. In my case, I studied pure science subjects and Mathematics for my A levels, and it was totally irrelevant to the Law degree course. Whereas, for my high school, I was a pure science student as well and I never got exposed to any art stream related subjects (Law is considered as an Art stream subject). However, it doesn't mean that you can fail your language papers as I think mastering languages has an essential part in pursuing law. It enables you to understand everything better if you have a strong language foundation. I loved my language subjects the most during my school days and I think that's why it drew a strong interest towards the law subject.

Q: Does studying Law require a lot of memorising? Is it tough?

Yes, you do need to memorise hundreds of cases involving human names which makes no sense at all, and also the definition of law terms, general rule of the law and exception to the general rule and also the exception of the exception to the general rule and so on so forth. If you REALLY REALLY REALLY hate memorising stuff, I would advise you to think again before getting involved in this. For me, I have mastered this memorising technique which makes memorising stuff and storing them in my head not too hard a task throughout the years, so it was relatively okay for me to study for my subjects. As long as you're willing to focus and understand laws, I don't see a big problem passing your exams!

Q: Which university to choose? How is HELP's Law Degree like?

Some people have been asking me whether HELP is good or not. I would say that I had a very enjoyable 2 years in HELP before coming to the UK for my final year! The main reason why I've chosen HELP is because it has a fairly good location and I've heard quite a lot of good reviews regarding this university before studying there. From my experience, HELP really has a lot of respectable law lecturers who are very willing to help the students. Also, the thing about HELP is, they have this CRAZY examination system where you will undertake back-to-back law papers, 5 days in a row! How does that sound? Memorising shit loads of law stuff for each different subject and not getting any off days in between! But that had made us so stress-resistant that once we got to the UK, I would say that I preferred this crazy exam schedule as I would only need to suffer once and be done with it one shot instead of having to suffer chill suffer chill suffer chill okay I gotta stop I sound like a HELP ambassador now lol.

Q: How's study life in the UK?

Being in the UK is like one of the best times I have ever had in my life. If too just solely talk about the studying life, I guess it's pretty much the same anywhere. Just to my surprise, it's much more relaxed compared to back in Malaysia! Besides that, life in the UK has been so different, so eye-opening and absolutely amazing due to my bunch of very best girlfriends and important people around me! We have done so many crazy things together that would have never ever been done back in Malaysia, such as having drinking parties almost every week as alcohol is so cheap here. Getting wasted and doing funny things, having sleepovers, travelling around Europe blah blah blah. We have experienced so much freedom here and it's not something that a person would ever regret experiencing!

Anyway, before choosing your pathway in studying anything, make sure to do your own research and do not hesitate to contact the university itself for more up-to-date information. DO NOT choose rashly just because of trends or whatnot. Know what you want. It's YOUR future!

FAQs.

I've posted a picture on instagram earlier saying that you guys can ask me questions that you guys wanna know about me! So here you are, FAQs about mememememe.

What is your height?

I'm 167cm tall.

Where are you from?

I'm from Ipoh, Malaysia! Although I was born in Selangor but I grew up in Ipoh, so yea.

Do you used to have braces on?

Nope. I've never worn braces before and I'm so proud that they are so well-aligned and tidy naturally!

Do you take any collagen as daily supplement?

I have never taken any collagen stuff and I barely take any supplements. I am not a fan of all these collagen or beauty related supplements but I loveeeee doing mask and I only use My Beauty Diary's masks!

How do you keep fit?

Pictures and them angles hahaha. I am not fit at all but I will be heading to the gym very soon! Will share my tips if it works :3

Would you consider changing to a new hairstyle?

So far no, I am reluctant to cut away my hair even if it's only 1inch of it. Anyway I have the thought of getting bangs after seeing Hani's perfect airy bangs but still lacking of courage to do so :(

How do you manage your hair?

Well, people always tell me I have REALLY long and thick hair and I really like my hair besides the fact that it's super dry and frizzy. I use Etude House's Hair Moisture Pack for my hair ends and I just blow dry it with a comb after washing it. I use Philip's curling iron and I guess all curling iron works the same but please get a curling iron which has a diameter of at least 32mm!
For styling my fringe, I usually put a bit of wax on to make it stay in place. To keep it airy, always wash your hair and make sure that your scalp is not oily. I guess it's my hair volume itself making it airy as I really didn't do anything additional to keep it that way.

What are your make up essentials?

On normal days, I use a sun screen from my personal beautician as my UV base, then I'll use YSL's Le Teint Encre De Peau foundation (B10) which is the best foundation ever! Beats Laneige's BB cushion or any other BB cushion cus it's coverage is so so so good! For days in Malaysia I usually use NARS light reflecting settling powder to mattify my face after applying foundation due to the hot weather which makes my skin more oily-proned. Then I'll use NARS Orgasm as my blusher.

For brows, I use Soap and Glory's Archery Brow Tint and Precision shaping pencil (brownie points) to draw the front part of my brows as it gives a natural shade. Then I'll use Shu Uemura's hard formula eyebrow pencil (H9) to fill the empty parts of my brows. Lastly, I colour my brows using Kate's Eyebrow Color (BR-1) to make my eye brows look brown and similar to my hair colour.

For eyes, I will only apply a very light shade of eye shadow using Naked Palette 2's Chopper. Then, I'll draw a fine eyeliner with a slight wing using Dollywink's liquid eyeliner (not sure bout the model but its packaging is lilac in colour). Also, I apply Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion before applying anything on my eyelids to make my makeup staaaaaay! On special occasions, I use Kiss Me's Heroine Make long and curl mascara to finish my eye make up.

I contour my nose using Naked Palette 2's Tease. Then I will highlight my nose and my upper cheeks using Benefit's Watt's Up

I have loadssssss of different lipstick and I'm currently in love with Topshop's Rio Rio cus it's orangey and easy to apply.

What skin care product do you use?

I only use skin care products from my personal beautician although it's a very low profile brand. Have been using it since I was 15 and I've never switched to any other products yet!

What are you doing in UK now after you've graduated?

I'm here for another year of Masters in Commercial Law! Can't get enough of studying yet hehe.

What is your plan for your future?

Although I'm not studying the BPTC or CLP for now, I plan to get myself to study for any of the professional legal board when I have started working. Also, I would continue my blogshop business and hopefully this brings me somewhere as a successful entrepreneur. Also, I hope to use my social media influencing power to blog more and share more stuff to people out there!

Why do you choose to study Law?

I love debating with facts, I love how things can be viewed in different perspectives and each side has their own reasoning. I think what attracts me the most is that it has a relatively good pay. :p

How do you cope with stress?

People around me always tell me that I'm a very chill and relaxed person. Before any exams I can still study very calmly memorising my stuff when everyone is so paranoid during the very last minute. Not really sure why am I so naturally calm and i guess maybe its because of my star sign Libra who is always in peace and keeping the balance? hahahaha. Actually I do feel stressed out at some point of time, but when I'm really stressed I usually have a way of getting away from it by listening to my favourite indie music and distract myself from things which stress me out. Most importantly, avoid yourself from being stressed out such as getting your work done earlier and plan everything ahead so that you won't need to be dealing with stressful situations later on!

Love story of yours?

When someone right comes along, you will know why it never worked out with anyone else. Currently very happily in love with my special one in the UK. So lucky to be here again to share all our moments together. :)

Hope this makes you know more about me! x
